Employee Spotlight – Jessie Nagel

Jessie began her De Boer Baumann career as an intern in 2017 after receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University. She was hired full-time at the end of that internship and has jumped right in by joining our marketing committee as well as our agricultural niche team where she gets to learn more about Michigan’s amazing local fruit and vegetable producers. She loves that every work day is different, and that she gets endless opportunities to expand her knowledge base, not only in the traditional tax and attest areas of accounting, but also in the specialized world of agriculture and the unique clients she has the pleasure of serving. Another thing she enjoys about De Boer Baumann is that she is encouraged to get involved with local organizations and non-profits. She serves on the Grand Haven Main Street Promotions committee which focuses on planning and promoting events in Grand Haven. This is a fun change of pace from her normal workday and she is proud to play a role in bringing visitors into the city.

Jessie has a tight bond with her family, especially her older sister Jamie who she is very close with. When she speaks of Jamie, she describes her as not just her sister, but as a true friend. When Jessie isn’t doing schoolwork for the MBA she is pursuing, she enjoys going on family vacations and spending time with her two cats and her turtle named Yurtle who has been by her side since she was just 5 years old!

Jessie loves many things about living in Michigan, particularly in autumn when she can go apple picking. She loves to relax with a glass of apple cider and a donut while taking in the stunning fall colors with a good book!
